#How to use audio hijack with .aa files series
I just wrote: If anyone knows of a 24/96 ADC with pro-quality ins and outs and from a recognized company (which Parasound certainly is, and I put their Z-series 2ch power amp in offices in Steinway's Global Headquarters, but their Z series is built to a price point) that costs less than Sound Devices USBPre2 ADC (street price $895) PLMK.

I can coach people on how to get it done to a high standard. In the event, the OP seems to have been guided to an excellent solution. The AES has a recommended standard for digital archiving, and it is 24/96. However, if you make just one level adjustment in a file, the whole file has to be re-written and re-dithered, and so its effective bit depth will be even less than 16 bits. That ADC chip or one like it is not everywhere, or nearly everywhere but, it does show up an awful lot and it seems more than adequate for its intended purpose, which is to create a digital file that can be used to burn a CDR with minimal further work and fuss. HOWEVER, I'd characterize those results as "hobbyist acceptable" rather than "archival quality." I am sure that people have gotten what they consider to be very good results with it. I also use an HRT Linestreamer+ with Audacity, posted on Februat 14:14:59 However, there are some among us who can detect a gnat fart from 10 yards away -)

I used Audacity software and compared the two setups against each other "visually" in the Audacity waveforms and audibly playing back the digitized LPs.ĭigitizing LPs with PS Audio NuWave Phono ADC:ĭigitizing LPs with $300 HRT Linestreamer+ ADC:Įither setup would be fine for any normal person, and even normal audiophiles. The HRT LineStreamer+ was used with an outboard phono. The NuWave Phono is a ADC and phono preamp in one. For one thing, LPs lack the dynamic range and resolution to warrant anything higher than about 24/96. I used both for digitizing LPs at 24/96 and I heard no difference. I had the $2000 NuWave Phono ADC on loan and the $300 HRT LineStreamer+ ADC. PS Audio once sold the NuWave Phono ADC for $2000 before they dropped the price to $1000 and then discontinued it. Understandably, you failed to answer my question. So, have some LP's that never made it to being released on CD and want to preserve them as i am listening to and then selling all my LP's which would also mean no need for a table then.
